MARTIN, states that she is 54, a resident of Red Lick Mountain, Johnson Co., A R; that she is the widow of Solomon P. MARTIN who was a private in Co. A, 2, commanded by Cap t. C.C. CASY of the 2nd Regt of Ark. Vols, commanded by Col. M.L. STEPHENSON, in the war wit h the so - called Confederate States, that her husband enlisted at Clarksville Ark about 23 S ep. 1863 for the term of 3 years and continued in actual service and was killed 23 August 186 4, the cause of death being killed by the rebels while in the service of the U.S.; that she w as married to Solomon P. MARTIN on the 10th day of Dec. 1845 at Red Lick Mt. by James H. TAYL OR minister, that her husband Solomon P.MARTIN died on the day mentioned; that her name befor e her marriage was Eva L.BEAN; that she has remained a widow since his death; that she believ es there is no public or private record of her marriage; that at his death he left only the f ollowing surviving children who were under the age of 16 at his death, and who all reside a t Red Lick Mt, Johnson Co., AR: Sarah Jane 24, John Thomas 21; Elizabeth 19, Matilda E. 17, W illiam B. 15 and Mary E. 10. MARTIN whe n Eva gave birth to the following children: 6 Sep. 1852 John T. MARTIN, 2 June 1854 Elizabet h G. MARTIN, 17 Nov. 1855 Matilda E. MARTIN and 18 Jan. 1859 William MARTIN; that Solomon lef t 2 other surviving children, Sarah Jane MARTIN and Mary E. MARTIN, and no others who were un der 16 at the time of his death.
