Bates & John Bean all citizens of said Sebasti an County, who being duly sworn according to law, depose & say that the cause why proof was n ot made within 7 years from the entry, was the sever and protected sickness of claimants wife , confining _______ his home, as her sickness was of such nature as to require his constant a ttendance, she being confined to her bed frequently and preventing his personal attendance a t the Land Office at the proper time. We the corroborating witness being near neighbors o f Robert E. Bates & intimae friends, and not interested in any way in the said claims.
