C., the dau. of Michael Awalt who d. in Franklin Co., Te nn., before 8-24-1835 (See Will of Michael Awalt in the Franklin Co., Wills, 1827-1847) It i s not known where or when Elizabeth died. John Bean5 was perhaps the most noted member of h is family but a bit difficult to trace because of conflicting family accounts based on legend . From this we have gleaned some facts. He moved as a young man of 21 with his parents in 1 825 from Franklin Co., Tenn. to Waltonville, Ill., in the now famous covered wagon trip ove r the mountains, but by 1829 he was back in Franklin Co., Tenn. for he was m. there to Elizab eth, and they lived there until 1842, then moving to Clarksville, Ark. They were the first B ean family to live here and a great many of the Beans of Johnson Co., Ark. descend from them . John was an out-spoken sympathized for the Union and in 1860 it appears that he returned t o Illinois, where he died but his body was returned to Clarksville and the Mt. Vernon Cem. T his writer has visited his grave.
