!LOCATION: This is a letter written by John Millard Martin to his Niece Anna Lee Martin & fam ily. Later dated July 9th, 1958 Compliments of Carolyn (Martin) Sue, Rt. 1 Box 112, Lockney , Texas. Letter reads as follows: Wichita Falls, Texas July 9th, 1958. My Dear Niece Anna Le e & Family: I am so nervous I can hardly write but will try answering your nice letter I rece ived on coming home from my month visiting trip I left here on the bus five weeks ago to da y went to Dallas visited your Aunt Selma and her daughter Jeane. Your Uncles Jessie and Perr y and Jessie's son Carl, from Dallas I went to Monroe, LA., visited Nora one of the twins on e week with her then to Texarkana Ark, one nite with Nanna's sister & her daughter you see Na nna was my first wife from Texarkana to Benton my home town where I married my third wife an d where she passed away last December 18, spent one week there. Then to Fort Smith spent tw o weeks with Tom & Bonnie his wife and during that two weeks Tom drove with me to Waldron Ark ., where I married my second wife and where I served ten years in office for Scott County the n to Parks, Post Office where I was raised and went to my first school and there I married Na nnie Frost my first wife and she was buried there and I taught three terms of school when I w ent to my first school, so much for that now for my wind up Virgie drove to Fort Smith week a go to day Saturday and we left Fort Smith 6 A.M. Monday July the 4th drove through Oklahoma . Stopped at Davis Oklahoma visited Claude Martin and wife couple hours. Got home 4 P.M. an d the trip all but got me I was in bed most of the next two days but O.K. now but very nervou s. I am sending you couple pictures Bonnie Tom's wife gave me only one has Tom's picture s o you keep the one you want give the other to Jewell Lee, so write me tell Jewell to write he r Uncle John. !OBITUARY: Marion Wes Martin Dies In Lubbock Sanitarium Thurs. Resident of Floyd County For T hirty-Eight Years. Funeral services for Marion Wes Martin [Marion Wesley "Wes" Martin] kno w to his friends as Uncle Wes Martin, were held Friday afternoon in the Chapel of Harmon Fune ral home with the Rev. R.E.L. Muncy in charge. Mr. Martin was born in Arkansas on February 8 , 1871 but moved to Texas early in his life. He married Miss Sallie Berry in Vernon on Jun e 18, 1891. To this union were born seven children, five of which survive. Mr. Martin had b een a resident of Floyd County for thirty-eight years. He was carried to a Lubbock Hospita l on Sunday, July 4, where an examination by physicians disclosed that he was in very critica l condition with brain fever and other complications. He died Thursday, July 8, aged 66 year s and 5 months. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. M.W. Martin, five children; Mr. and Mrs. Will M artin, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Yandell, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Crawford and Mr s. Lonnie Gideumb. Five brothers and two sisters; Noah Martin, Oklahoma; Jesse Martin, Dalha rt; Claud Martin, Oklahoma; Perry Martin, McKinney; John Martin, Arkansas; Mrs. Selma Clinksc ales, Dallas, and Mrs. Allie Dismuke of Oklahoma. Mr. Martin is also survived by 17 grandchi ldren and two great grandchildren. Two of his brothers, John and Perry were unable to be her e. Pall bearers were Euel McCracken and five of the grandsons, Ross Yandall, Arvel Yandell , Henry James Martin, Donald Yandell, and Emmett Yandell. Flower girls were Mrs. Henry Gallo way, Miss Ester Sears, Cleo Yandell, Geraldine Yandell, Nell Fletcher Martin, Sarah Jewel Yan dell. - Source - Compliments of Carolyn Ann (Martin) Sue of Lockney, Texas.

!OBITUARY: [From the Marlow Review, Marlow, Oklahoma, September 18, 1969, front page.] Clinks cales Rites Held here Saturday. Selma Clinkscales, 86, of 714 West Payne died in Marlow Nurs ing Home, Tuesday, September 9. She had been ill one year. She was born in Brown County, Te xas, June 3, 1883. She had lived in Marlow three years, and from 1915 until 1965 she lived i n Dallas. She was married to Henry Clinkscales, September 1, 1916 in Dallas. She was a memb er of the Assembly of God Church in Dallas. Survivors include; her husband, Henry Clinkscale s, of Marlow; two sons, Duard Terry of Lacrosse, Wisconsin and Walter Terry of Dallas; thre e daughters, Mrs. Velda Muncrief of Midland, Texas, Winnir Coreau of Portland, Oregon and Mrs . Eugene Toth of Albuquerque, New Mexico; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; tw o brothers, Jess Martin of Cederhill, Texas and Claude Martin of Cement, Oklahoma; one sister , Mrs. Allie Dismuke of Marlow. Funeral services were held in the Callaway-Smith Chapel a t 2 p.m. Saturday, September 13, conducted by Rev. H.C. Eslinger, Burial was in the Marlow Ce metery.
