!BIOGRAPHY: Information from Carolyn Ann (Martin) Sue, Lockney, Texas 79241., she writes th e following about her family.; Martin Family Stories. Daddy [Will Massie Martin] has always s aid his father didn't say much about his family, but I will tell what I have heard him tell . Thomas Henry Martin had 2 brothers Jack & Bill. The best I can figure Jack would be Joh n W. "Jack" Martin and Bill would be William Wilson "Bill" Martin. Tom [Thomas Henry "Tom" M artin] and Jack [John W. "Jack" Martin] fought in the Civil war. Jack came to visit in Floy d County & left his Civil war rifle & Daddy played with it and tore it up. I have no recor d of either. Bill [William Wilson "Bill" Martin] owned land in Floyd County, Texas. N.E. o f Floydada close to South Plains. Tom [Thomas Henry "Tom" Martin] had taken his boys, John [ John Millard Martin] & Wes [Marion Wesley "Wes" Martin] to the store of his father in Arkansa s. He, [John Miller Martin] told Tom to "get them boys out of here before they tear somethin g up." There was never anything said about divorce between Tom [Thomas Henry "Tom" Maritn ] & Melissa [Melissa Margaret (Self) Martin], I had always assumed she had died maybe in a ch ildbirth as so many others did. There was a baby died & he had an extra thumb on one hand . Tom [Thomas Henry "Tom" Martin], Martha [ Martha Elizabeth (Britt) Martin] & family move d to Texas, maybe Brown County, around 1885. It was always said John {John Millard Martin ] & Wes [Marion Wesley "Wes" Martin] lived with them. They moved to Floyd County, Texas arou nd 1891. When Wes [Marion Wesley "Wes" Martin] was about 16 years old his step-mother, Marth a [Martha Elizabeth (Britt) Martin] told him to go feed the horses and this made him mad so h e went back to Arkansas. This would be about 1887 about the time you found the "Guardian Bou nd" appointing Spencer Self guardian, Spencer was his mother's brother. Wes [Marion Wesley " Wes" Martin] married Sallie Berry in Vernon, Texas 18 June 1891. I have marriage license. T he article I wrote about T.H. Martin was in the Floyd County, Hesperian Floydada, Texas.
